The story

First thing: this is not the Sonny & Cher song. Same title, different song entirely. Afie Jurvanen, the Canadian songwriter who records as Bahamas, wrote his own I Got You Babe for his second album, Barchords, released in February 2012 on Brushfire Records. It's a laid-back love song with a guilty conscience. Barchords went gold in Canada and picked up a Juno nomination for Adult Alternative Album of the Year.

Director Scott Cudmore made the video, with Michael Leblanc shooting it, and the credits list both a Canadian and a Cuban producer. What you get is a sunny tropical beach in ultra slow motion: people stretching in the sand, lifting weights, smoking, sipping drinks and breaking into silly dances. Complex called it a little odd. That's the appeal. Nothing happens, and it happens very slowly.
