The story
Big Grams is a friendship that started with a pop-up ad. In December 2010, Big Boi heard Phantogram's Mouthful of Diamonds in one, liked it enough to post it on his website as his Jam of the Week, and Phantogram's Sarah Barthel reached out. Three Phantogram tracks ended up on Big Boi's 2012 solo album, and the one-off EP they kept talking about finally arrived as Big Grams, out on Epic in September 2015. It hit number 38 on the Billboard 200 and number five on the rap albums chart.
Fell in the Sun was the lead single. Director Änders Rostad's video went out as an exclusive through the file-sharing service WeTransfer. The three of them dance against a sparkly, blurry background, interrupted by watery light and sun-spotted circles. Per the press release, the idea was to copy the afterimage you get from staring at the sun too long. FLOOD noted that actually doing that won't look nearly this cool.
An OutKast legend and Phantogram, dancing inside a retina burn. Don't try it at home.
