The story

NIKO IS is Nikolai Paiva, a rapper born in Rio de Janeiro and based in Orlando, Florida, who folds samba and bossa nova into his hip hop. Crazy comes off Chill Cosby, a free mixtape he put out on his own in December 2012. Best mixtape title of that year? Hard to beat. NZM of Nu South Music made the beat.

Christopher Andrew Smith of CHRISSMITH Films directed the video, which went up in April 2013, and the credits give a shout-out to Meghan Nguy. Smith went on to shoot more Niko videos through 2013 and 2014. A month after Crazy dropped, Niko recorded a song with Talib Kweli, and Kweli invited him onto his new label, Javotti Media. Not a bad spring.
