The story
Cats. In space. Set to a disco instrumental from 1977. YouTuber Enjoyker posted this minute-long clip in October 2015, and the internet did what the internet does: reposted it everywhere and stretched it into a ten-hour version billed as singing cats.
The music is older and stranger than the cats. Didier Marouani wrote Magic Fly in 1976 for a TV astrology program, people said the melody sounded like outer space, and so his band became Space. They performed in spacesuits, partly for the look and partly because Marouani's record contract kept him from releasing music under his own name. The single went to number two in the UK and number one in West Germany and Switzerland in 1977, and decades later a writer compared it to Daft Punk. The cats seem to agree.
