The story
Two lines, men on one side and women on the other, and one pair at a time struts, spins and shows off down the aisle between them. That's the Soul Train line. Soul Train ran from 1971 to 2006, and for a lot of viewers the line was the main event. The dancers weren't stars. They were kids who could flat-out move, and the rule on set was simple: if you can dance, you can stay. Shabba Doo said they got paid in chicken. The line outlived the show, too – it still breaks out at weddings.
Here the line works out to the Dazz Band's Let It Whip, a Motown electro-funk hit that the band also played on Soul Train in May 1982. It spent five weeks at number one on the Billboard soul chart, reached number five on the Hot 100 and won the Grammy for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. The uploader's entire description is that the basketball guy is a show. He's not wrong.
