The story
Dominique Purdy grew up in Koreatown, Los Angeles, did stand-up at the Laugh Factory while still in high school, and now raps and produces as The Koreatown Oddity. His 2020 Stones Throw album Little Dominiques Nosebleed won him good reviews from Pitchfork and AllMusic. The follow-up was a 7-inch single about drinking his baby mama's breast milk.
Yes, really. He first tried it out on a Twitch stream the summer before and made the beat himself. On record he plays it completely straight: it's a health plan, it's the secret behind his glow, and if that sounds strange to you, take a long look at the carton of cow's milk in your fridge. Resident Advisor heard something like outtakes from MF DOOM's MM..FOOD. Under the gag there's real stuff, too – a nod to the black market that some mothers lean on when they can't make enough milk, and a dad bragging about what his daughter is getting.
Ben Marlowe animated the video from art by Skyler Duf, and it signs off with a clip from a Chappelle's Show sketch spoofing Diddy. Gross, funny and weirdly sweet. You'll regret the first listen and hit replay anyway.
