The story

Bert is Warren G. Ernie is Nate Dogg. The back alley of Sesame Street stands in for Long Beach. Adam Schleichkorn, a Webby-winning freelance video editor from Queens who goes by Mylo the Cat, cut old Sesame Street clips together so the two Muppets perform the whole 1994 classic. Per Complex, they get mugged, fight back and walk out of it side by side, and it closes with a tribute to Nate Dogg, who died in 2011. His method, he has said, is song first, character second, then rework the clips until the mouths hit the timing.

In the upload he admits this one nearly broke him. He almost bailed several times, but it was the most-requested song in his comments, so he kept going. He says he locks himself in his room for days to make these. He also tips his hat to the old Bert and Ernie M.O.P. mashup that started the whole silly genre. Okayplayer later called Regulate his first viral hit, at more than 5.2 million views.

The original went to number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1994, riding a loop from Michael McDonald's I Keep Forgettin'. Twenty-two years later it got regulated all over again by two guys made of felt.
