The story
Two Croatian cellists in 18th-century costume walk into a fancy concert hall. Powdered wigs in the seats, corsets in the front row, a polite little classical duet to start. Then Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser trade a look, and the Baroque recital turns into AC/DC's Thunderstruck played like a bar fight. Bow hair snaps. Cellos become drums. One of them ends up on his back on the floor, still playing. The audience just sits there, stunned silent, like somebody tracked mud across the harpsichord.
The duo wrote the story themselves, Kristijan Burlovic shot it, and the credits tip a hat to the Friends of Giostra Society in Poreč, Croatia. They called the arrangement Ba-Rock, which is the whole joke in one word.
2CELLOS were already YouTube famous from their Smooth Criminal cover in 2011, which got them a gig touring with Elton John. Thunderstruck went bigger. It hit 10 million views in about two weeks, the fastest any music video from the former Yugoslavia had reached that mark, and it passed 200 million by 2021. Two classically trained kids, one Australian hard rock song, a room full of very confused aristocrats. Perfect.
