The story
Gina Katon grew up in a town called Hell, Michigan, and told her high school guidance counselor she wanted to be Madonna. She trained as a dancer, moved to Hollywood and spent years in the all-girl dance-rock group Darling Stilettos, opening for acts like Slash. After a Lady Gaga concert lit a fire under her, she went solo in 2010 and started Gina and the Eastern Block with drummer and producer Marc Jordan, who describes their sound as sweaty chic. In 2012 she founded Little Miss Nasty, a rock 'n' roll burlesque troupe that grew from a fifteen-minute opener at the Viper Room on the Sunset Strip into residencies in Las Vegas, LA and San Francisco.
Sippin' On A Forty came out in 2016, written by Katon and Jordan and produced and mixed by Jordan in Los Angeles. A porch, a forty-ounce, a slow buzz and a very particular kind of waiting for company – about as subtle as the title. Matt Guion, Eddie DeLeon and Jordan shot the video, and Gina cut it herself. The song later found a second life as the soundtrack to a chair-dance class in Little Miss Nasty's online School of Nasty. Hell, Michigan sends its regards.
