The story
A cover of a remix of a cat. That's the chain here. In 2021 South African musician David Scott, who records as The Kiffness, went viral by setting a grumpy internet cat's complaints to music, splitting the screen between the cat and himself building a beat around its yowls. The Alugalug Cat clip took off, Ryan Reynolds shared his cat songs with his followers, and Scott kept going, eventually putting out a whole EP of angry-cat duets and giving half the streaming money to the Sandton SPCA.
This one is a musician called MultiDavid, Dawid Makowski, playing the Kiffness track Alugalug Cat 2.0 (Please Go Away) on piano and guitar and singing it himself, posted in August 2021. He links straight back to the Kiffness original and the cat's TikTok. A man, a piano and a cat's opinion about being touched. The internet in under two minutes.
