The story

Plants and Animals are three Montreal guys – Warren Spicer, Matthew Woodley and Nicolas Basque – who started playing together as kids and never really stopped. Feedback in the Field comes off Parc Avenue, their first full-length album, released in February 2008 on Secret City Records. They cut the whole record on analogue tape and brought in Arcade Fire's Sarah Neufeld to play strings.

The album got them shortlisted for the 2008 Polaris Music Prize, Canada's big album-of-the-year award, plus two Juno nominations the next year. Louis-Phillipe Eno directed the video, NuFilms produced it and VideoFACT chipped in. That's about all anybody wrote down at the time. Plenty of good indie videos from 2008 went that way: made with care, filed away, rediscovered years later in a playlist like this one.
