1.“I heard this in my local Starbucks in Japan, of all places. Most of what they play is just background noise, but this song really caught my ear. Holy cow, this is a good song.”

The story
Summer 2020. Nobody's going anywhere. So New York trio Sunflower Bean holed up together upstate and made a video about exactly that. Andy DeLuca and Sarah Eiseman directed, filmed and edited it at the Nouveau Dream in the Catskills, with frontwoman Julia Cumming starring next to her old friend Marquis Rodriguez, the actor from When They See Us.
The video lives in two worlds. One is a lonely bedroom. The other is a sunny outdoor place built out of memories of a past summer romance. As Cumming's character remembers, the bedroom slowly turns into the outside – and the crew did it for real, hauling in actual sod and flowers to grow the room into a meadow.
The band says the song is about finally figuring out what matters, and it isn't career wins, money or social approval. It's the people you get to spend your time with. A good thing to remember in a year when most of us couldn't see them. It was their first new music of 2020, and it beats doomscrolling.
