The story
Wampire were a Portland duo, Rocky Tinder and Eric Phipps, who made twitchy, cobwebbed indie pop with a graveyard streak. Spirit Forest was the second taste of their debut album Curiosity, released on Polyvinyl in May 2013. Jake Portrait, the bassist from Unknown Mortal Orchestra, produced it and played bass. Critics liked the record well enough: 69 on Metacritic, which counts as generally favorable.
Stereogum heard drums and bass up front with organ and guitar riffs stacked on top, always shifting but with room to breathe and a little eeriness tucked inside. Spin spotted the running theme: the first single was called The Hearse, and now here's a spirit forest. Afterlife fixation, but make it danceable. This upload came from a fan channel with no notes attached, and no press we could find describes the visuals, so we'll leave that part to your eyes.
