The story
Caravan Palace helped turn electro swing into a full-blown party genre: a Paris crew that takes old-school swing jazz, plugs it into club beats and lets it rip. Over more than a decade that recipe made them a festival favorite with millions of YouTube plays and hit albums back home in France.
Plume came out as a single in June 2019, ahead of their fourth album Chronologic, and it shows the band steering somewhere new. Critics noticed the shift – sunnier, poppier, more Auto-Tune and Balearic shimmer, less vintage brass. The Arts Desk joked that it could pass for an outtake from Katy Perry's Witness, which, since Katy's Chained to the Rhythm sits right here in the Weirdness too, feels like fate.
Plume is French for feather, which suits a track this light on its feet. A band that already conquered one genre decided to float off and see what else is out there.
