1.“I bet when Chris Martin was writing 'Yellow,' he didn't see that in 20 years he'd be dancing with aliens in a post-modern city with lightning coming out of his butt. Yet here we are.”

The story
Chris Martin lands on Kaotica, a colorful trash planet full of robot dogs, giant holograms and a street gang of dancing aliens. He walks in a stranger and ends up in the middle of their routine. The rest of the band shows up, the dancing gets bigger, and eventually Martin flies off into outer space. The aliens even got their own language, Kaotican, which is printed all over the single's artwork.
Director Dave Meyers (Billie Eilish, Travis Scott, Taylor Swift) said the whole thing is a metaphor for how alienated everybody felt in 2021, and how finding love in the street can lift you out of it. The alien gang is Seoul's Ambiguous Dance Company, choreographed by Kim Boram, with production design by Patrick Tatopoulos and effects by Mathematic.
Higher Power was the lead single from Music of the Spheres, produced with Max Martin, and Coldplay previewed it to French astronaut Thomas Pesquet aboard the International Space Station before anyone on Earth heard it. It hit number 12 in the UK and picked up a Grammy nomination. A song about a cosmic lift, first played for a guy in orbit. Commitment to the bit.
