The story
Somebody counted: 288,000 Jelly Belly jelly beans. That's what singer-songwriter Kina Grannis and director Greg Jardin used to build this stop-motion video, one frame at a time – 2,460 frames in all. It took two years and more than 1,300 hours of shooting. Every swirl of color around her is candy, nudged by hand, photographed, nudged again.
The result is one of the sweetest things on YouTube in every sense of the word. Whole scenes form and dissolve out of jelly beans while Kina sings, and the patience it took is half the magic. You watch it once for the song and a second time just thinking about the person on bean duty.
In Your Arms is a soft, simple love song about wanting to stay close to someone, and the video matches it: handmade, unhurried and a little obsessive in the best way. Proof that a YouTube musician with a good idea and a ridiculous amount of sugar can make something nobody forgets.
