The story
Three cats walk into a strip club. That's not the setup to a joke, it's the whole video. Directed by Double Ninja and produced by Cumulus, with animation by Jérémie Balais and Jeff le Bars, Lone Digger drops us into a seedy club full of animals in suits. The cats check their claws on the way in. A table of Dobermans gives them the eye. Then a Doberman trips the waitress carrying the cats' milk, it splashes all over them, and the place turns into an extremely violent bar brawl. Cats don't forgive spilled milk.
The song was the second single from the Paris electro swing band's third album, the one with the robot-face emoticon for a title (fans just call it Robot Face). It came out in September 2015, and the video followed in November. It did not stay small: the clip has passed 400 million YouTube views, the single went platinum in Poland, and Disney put the song in its 2022 movie Strange World.
Cute animals, cartoon gore, a swing beat you can't sit still to. Caravan Palace's Plume sits in the Weirdness too, but this is the one that taught the internet what electro swing sounds like.
