The story
Caravan Palace started as three Paris musicians hired to score a silent adult film. That's the origin story, and nobody has improved on it since. They needed more bodies for live shows, rounded up the rest of the band through MySpace, and in October 2008 put out a self-titled debut that peaked at number 11 in France and sat on the album chart for 68 weeks straight.
Suzy is track six on that record, the band's second single, released in February 2009 after Jolie Coquine. The video is credited to Bechir Jouini, who goes by Jiwee. It leans hard into art deco, and the band's tin-can robot mascot, a regular in their clips, gets a human-sized turn on the dance floor. The official upload went live in late February 2012, a week before their second album Panic hit stores.
Old swing records chopped up and bolted to club beats, with a robot cutting a rug in the middle of it. Electro swing in one picture.
