The story
Galantis is a Swedish dance duo, and Holy Water is pure Galantis: bright piano chords, a bouncy drop, built for festival fields. The uncredited voice belongs to Cathy Dennis, the British singer-songwriter and producer who also sang on their earlier songs Runaway and Emoji. It came out in September 2019 and later landed on their album Church.
Director Jason Lester turned the video into a synchronized swimming meet. The Aqualillies, a real synchro team, run their routines while a panel of judges, a crowd and Galantis themselves look on. The pool keeps changing color, the swimmers pop up at the edge to sing straight into the camera, and the edit chops along with the warped vocals in the chorus. Church music for the pool deck.
