The story
In November 1994, people started forwarding an email warning about a computer virus called Good Times. Open a message with that subject line, it said, and your files were toast. There was no such virus. Then came a spoof called Bad Times, a warning so overblown it turned the whole panic into a joke.
London band Laika (named after the first animal to orbit Earth) turned that spoof into a song. Singer Margaret Fiedler recites a version of the Bad Times warning over a trip-hop groove, and the damage it promises gets more ridiculous as it goes. It's on Good Looking Blues, the band's third album, released on Too Pure in February 2000, and it came out as a single that year. Fiedler and Guy Fixsen wrote and produced the whole record. This upload comes from a YouTube channel called Urban Hell Garden and Digital Oddities, and we couldn't find a source on who made the visuals, so we'll stop there.
