The story
In 1989 somebody made a sing-along VHS tape called Special Friends: Starring You on Kazoo!, and on it a bowl-cut kid named Brett Ambler threw himself into kazoo lessons with the energy of a game show host. Decades later the internet found him. An edited clip on YouTube's Dead VCR channel started spreading in 2014, Reddit picked it up in 2015, and a Facebook repost in January 2016 hit about two million views in a day. Ambler confirmed on Christmas Day 2015 that the kid was him.
Los Angeles musician Mike Diva showed up at exactly the right moment. Mike Diva and Sick System built a trap track out of the clip, rotoscoping artist Aaron Nelson-Purcell helped with the trippy visuals, and the kazoo drops about 50 seconds in like a festival headliner. Posted in early February 2016, it passed three million views within three weeks. Ambler still acts in Colorado and seems to enjoy his strange second career as a meme. A kid, a kazoo and a bass drop. That's the whole internet right there.
