The story
Polo & Pan are a Paris duo, Paul Armand-Delille and Alexandre Grynszpan, who make sunny, tropical house that sounds like a vacation you can't afford. Coeur Croisé was the first single from their 2017 debut album Caravelle, a kitschy little slice of French pop that followed their breakout Canopée.
Director Pablo Maestres starts with a very proper retro dinner party. Everyone is dressed to the nines, every table setting is perfect. Then an otherworldly hostess and her handsome sidekick (Yulia Tsymbal and Laurent Meri) pass around a magic potion, and the evening slides somewhere much sweatier. The guests fall into tightly choreographed, bewitched dancing, with a nod to old Hollywood musicals and the French New Wave. Elegant, then strange, then a little bit naughty. It screened at SXSW in 2018.
