1.“Watched this video while I was high and felt like I was flying above all the deserts and all the forests. And even when I was sober and asleep, I dreamt of that happiness.”

- 2.“This song samples 'Let's Do It Again' by The Staple Singers, in case you were wondering.”
- 3.“This song reminds me of when I first met my husband in 2008. That was the most amazing summer! We're in our 30s now with two kids, but man, this song brings me right back.”
The story
Star Slinger is Darren Williams, a beatmaker out of Manchester, England, who built his debut Volume 1 with a sampler, a laptop and a crate of old vinyl. He put it out himself in 2010 as a beat tape. It went to the top of Bandcamp's charts and got spun on BBC Radio 1. Not bad for a guy and his record collection.
Mornin' opens that record. The Line of Best Fit called it a tribute to the Staple Singers, a sped-up, sunny flip of their hit Let's Do It Again. Old soul, new legs.
Alan Jensen made the video, and it was his first Vimeo staff pick. SHFT called it sunny, kaleidoscopic and dreamlike – summer bottled up for a cold winter's day. Two minutes long. Just enough time to thaw out.
